Waterloo Central Railway is a not-for-profit, registered charitable organization operated by the Southern Ontario Locomotive Restoration Society (SOLRS). They offer historic passenger train rides and themed excursions between St. Jacobs and Elmira, Ontario. Not only are they a destination hotspot for tourists, they offer tons of fun opportunities for trips to our local Farmers’ Market and Mennonite community.
They were in need of a website that visually communicated all of the exciting themed excursions and experiences they offer. CryoDragon was challenged to create an exciting new website that complimented their historic roots of “bringing history to life”. We worked with the wonderful team at the Waterloo Central Railway to help bring this vision to life.
The website we designed was one of the most intense and enjoyable projects we have had thus far! Not only were we tasked to finish this within a few weeks; we had to put in a lot of effort into making the site fun, interactive and creative! There were many long nights planning different features of the site, from an interactive custom map of the train route, custom welcome slider on the homepage with motion, and parallax effects in the background as you scrolled throughout the site. Each themed experience page also needed its own look and feel, especially THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride.
The end result is a custom site that the Waterloo Central Railway can call their own. We have had an amazing time working with their team, and be sure to visit their website to learn more about the exciting train rides they offer throughout the year!
