Every year since 2015, CryoDragon tries to choose one budding charity to donate a website to. Although we receive many applications for our annual contest, only one winner could be selected to be given a customized website to help give them a stronger online presence.

LOCATION: Canada
MISSION: Promote and showcase the field of biophysics within Canada by inviting biophysicists and scientists of related fields from around the world and nationally to present their most recent works.
PROJECT OVERVIEW: Customized, responsive conference site with countdown, registration, and payment gateways
DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
The Biophysical Society of Canada is a not-for-profit organization that started in 1985 with the goals of promoting and showcasing the talent of Canadian biophysicists. An Annual Meeting was launched in 2015 for exactly this purpose. Not only do Canadian biophysicists get to present their works to others within our nation, but also to invited speakers from around the globe to help promote interdisciplinary studies and international collaborations between scientists.
The Biophysical Society of Canada was looking to streamline and modernize their Annual Meetings site, and CryoDragon was able to donate a website to them that did exactly that. We encourage all Canadian biophysicists, including students and faculty members, to sign up for this amazing society and get involved in promoting Canadian biophysics.

LOCATION: Ottawa, Ontario
MISSION: Provide cloth diaper kits and education to families experiencing financial need.
PROJECT OVERVIEW: Customized, responsive site with eCommerce, donation, and application form capabilities.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
One Diaper Canada is a cloth diaper charity that provides cloth diaper kits to families in financial need. Based in Ottawa, Ontario, One Diaper Canada is fully staffed by volunteers that help with cloth diaper collection, repair, distribution and cloth diaper education.
In North America, it costs a total of at least $3,000 to diaper a single child with disposable diapers. On average, that’s over $100 per month in Canada spent on disposable diapers. For families who can’t afford this, caregivers end up reusing dirty disposable diapers or not changing diapers regularly, ending up with serious health problems for the child. In fact, this issue is so common that it has been labelled “diaper need“.
But, disposable diapers aren’t the only option to diaper your child. Cloth diapering is a much more cost-effective and beneficial alternative, but involves a greater upfront investment (about $400), so families facing financial restraints may not be able to afford this right away. That’s where One Diaper Canada comes in! One Diaper Canada helps families in need by providing them with cloth diaper kits.
As a brand new charity that needed a strong online presence, CryoDragon decided to donate a website to One Diaper Canada as their 2016 charitable partner. A custom, clean and modern site was built with interactive components and custom-built forms for individuals to apply for cloth diaper kits. Apart from eCommerce capabilities, the site also boasts a donation form to help receive donations from supporters of One Diaper Canada.

LOCATION: Waterloo, Ontario
MISSION: Provide free one-on-one tutoring services to Grades 7-12 students in financial need.
PROJECT OVERVIEW: Custom site with built-in volunteer logbook entries, user login system, donation and application forms.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
Tutoring Beyond Borders is an up and coming charity that provides free one-on-one tutoring services for underprivileged students in Grades 9-12. Based in Waterloo, Ontario, Tutoring Beyond Borders has served its community since 2010 and has helped over 800 students within Waterloo Region!
In 2015, Tutoring Beyond Borders won our charitable website donation contest, securing them a fully customized site with extensive content management features and plugins. Thorough student and volunteer application forms were designed, as well as donation and payment gateways for prospective donors and sponsors. A custom volunteer logbook was created on the back-end for tutors and volunteers to log in and enter their volunteer hours to help them keep track of their contributions.
