Journal Back Cover for PCCP Volume 22, Issue 45
SCIENTIFIC ILLUSTRATION PROJECT
The Wettig Research Group in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Waterloo specializes in the design, synthesis and characterization of novel surfactants with applications in drug delivery. They had recently published a paper in the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics (PCCP) journal that examined the mixing behaviour of Pluronics (poloxamers – nonionic triblock copolymers) and DNA/surfactant complexes. Their article is available here: https://doi.org/10.1039/D0CP00309C
CryoDragon was asked to draw a 3D scientific render for their journal cover article (back cover) visualizing this mixing behaviour, where loose and dissociated states of DNA are in the bulk areas while concentrated (above CMC) DNA complexes are inside the cell.
