It’s hard to imagine how far we’ve come in the last 5 years, and it has been a wild and crazy ride so far. Ever since we started up the business, we’ve hit a lot of bumps along the road and we have learned from each and every experience we have been through, just like any small business owner would. Starting a business isn’t just as easy as going through incorporation with lawyers and accountants, it’s about promoting your brand and holding up your reputation once you’ve set a gold standard for yourself.
For us, our struggles were going through the trials of trying to find clients in a technologically-dominant area where so many individuals pride themselves on being tech savvy. There are tons of web designers, both businesses and freelancers around the region that it was hard to make a name for ourselves at first. Slowly but surely, we received more inquiries, more clients, and more reviews. But we knew we couldn’t just stop there. With never-ending changes to website standards, search engine optimization, accessibility, and privacy standards, we make sure we’re always on top of the newest trends and advances available so that all of our clients know what’s out there, and what kind of services they can receive and or prepare to receive in the future.
But once we felt that we were on the right track and the light started to shine at the end of the tunnel, we decided to keep going and went through the process of getting our logo and name trademarked, because we knew that it was important to maintain our brand and get additional exposure, both online and in person. We logo’ed up our car for extra brand recognition and cruised all around the tri-cities, but like most businesses, most of our calls came in because of our website presence. By Year 3, we decided to rebuild our website and expand our services to aid in more areas of web design and development, and associated trades. Photography and videography were services that our clients needed in order to have updated media and content on their new websites, so we adapted and trained ourselves to be professionals in these areas as well.
The evolution of our business has been interesting and enjoyable. Nowadays, having a website isn’t enough, and we have seen a significant uptick in the number of requests we have had for digital and email marketing. This means creating campaigns to be sent out over social media such as Facebook and Instagram, also known as Social Media Marketing (SMM). Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is also a crucial and major part of the ever changing internet. And at CryoDragon, we are experts in these fields and we have spent a lot of time trying to make sure our website and business, which is fairly new compared to most other designers out there, can be found on the first page of Google. As a result, many calls that come in are to boost SEO and try to improve the company’s standing on search engines like Google, Bing, and of course, poor old Internet Explorer!
