When you’re looking to get a new website, you might type the following search terms into Google within your area: “best website designer waterloo”, or something along those lines. But to be honest, what you’ll find might not be what you’re looking for. Every business out there promotes themselves as being the best, and there’s no clear way of knowing who’s the best unless you put in the time to research each website design company there is.
So, who is the best website design company in Waterloo? Best website design company in Kitchener? Best website design company in Cambridge? The correct answer is no one. Every website designer has their specialties, and although we all share common knowledge of website coding, our skill sets vary in different areas, and our eye for design is different. There are obviously some website design companies that are more capable than others in terms of being more multidisciplinary and expansive with their skill sets, but the final answer comes down to you, the client.
You, as the client, have all the say in terms of choosing what you want and who you want to work with. As a result, it’s important for you to search for a bunch of different website design companies and go through the following list, asking yourself these questions for each company you come across:
- Go through their portfolios and past projects. Do you like their work?
- Read their testimonials. Even better, read reviews written by other people. Did they say good things? How many reviews are there?
- What services do that website design company offer? Can they do everything you’re looking for?
- Can you easily contact them? For example, can you email/phone them for a free quote and ask questions?
- Are they friendly and dependable? It would be horrible if there’s a lack of communication between you and the company! Make sure they are dependable and they get back to you in a timely manner.
- Are they real people? Can you actually meet them or video chat with them? Having a website design company who knows you individually as a person is much better than another who just cares about another payment.
- Ask for and check out their website design quotes and proposals! Are they detailed? The more detailed they are, the better. Always know exactly what you are paying for.
- Are they adaptable? Is the website design company willing to adapt to each client? If you have specific needs, make sure you let the design company know and see what they can do.
In the end, we recommend that you do a thorough search of at least 10-20 different website design companies whose websites you like and ask for quotes from each of them. Check their response times, and remember to put forth any requests that you want for your new or updated website project. See if you can meet with them to talk about your website, and always make sure you know what you are paying for.
